Morning Routine
/WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE?☀️
Mine is about finding PLEASURE in my body, in whatever way it wants to emerge that day.
Sometimes I dance. Sometimes I stretch luxuriously in the warm sunshine feeling the soft grass beneath my feet, the sun deliciously warming my skin. Other times I sing, skip and walk in the woods feeling the cool air caressing my skin, delighting in the dappled light all around me. Its different every day because I follow what lights me up rather than what I think I "should" do. I allow the natural world around me to merge with my body, and feel the opening and joy that brings 💚
This morning I spoke with a dear friend in the USA who unexpectedly rang me, and our conversation filled my heart and soul with such inspiration and aliveness. Afterwards I meditated in the sun feeling every cell soften in the warmth, and feeling the sounds of the birds and the rustling leaves moving through me, like little ripples of bliss. Mmmmm...😊
Every moment of every day there is so much delicious possibility available to us if we remember to slow down, breathe and tune in to our bodies 🌀
We are wired for pleasure, and bliss is natural for us. We just haven't been taught that. As children we knew how to have fun and find joy in everything we did. We naturally moved towards what felt pleasurable. It's only when we were told by adults that our actions were naughty, or that we were somehow being bad that we learned to cut off from this innate impulse. To be good and behave properly meant that we would be loved and accepted. As a child we depend on our parents for everything and so it was a survival instinct to do whatever we had to do to be loved. Sadly, becoming good boys and girls may have kept us safe, but it also meant losing a huge part of our aliveness and spontaneity. And our pleasure.
Pleasure is natures way of telling us that we are going the right way for our wellbeing. The more pleasure we allow ourselves the healthier, happier and more relaxed we feel. Its a simple equation 💖
But how do we reclaim our right to pleasure when we have an internalised parental/societal voice in our head telling us it's bad to enjoy ourselves too much?
This is my personal daily practice. This is part of what I teach in my one to one sessions and groups. I am fully committed to reclaiming the full expression of my bliss and pleasure in this body, in this life. And I am fully committed to helping others do the same. When we can relearn how to live in relaxed, happy bodies we will have a relaxed, healthy world 🌎
How do you start your day? What lights you up?
What brings you joy and pleasure? I would love to hear from you! 😊
